Bead Craft Designs Just For Fun As Well As For Profit

It is quite simple to turn your beadwork into salable items on a small scale, as you will likely offer some of your designs away, have other folks on display around your home, or (in the case of jewelry) be putting on a few of your favorite pieces on an outing. As word gets out, it's altogether possible that somebody will ask you to build something for them. This type of natural growth will produce occasional profits and leave you hungering for more, and while gleaning occasional profits for your beading tasks is pretty easy, it is significantly more difficult to get it to the next level and turn your pastime into a cottage business.

I say this not to dissuade you from trying, but only to make clear that offering your beadwork for profit on a regular basis is harder than you might think. As with anything worth doing, having your beading projects on a paying basis takes persistence and work. With that said, if it's something you're enthusiastic about, I'll walk you through some of the things you need to be considering to be able to put your hobby on a paying basis.

If you're seriously interested in making money with your beading creative ideas, the first, best thing you can do is not spread yourself too thin. Come up with 3-4 beadwork projects you can execute well and feel reasonably confident you can make a good profit at. Below, we'll examine some of the more popular beading projects, and their suitability for your uses.

Necklaces: Probably the most popular of the beading ideas people attempt for profit, as well as the most difficult to be successful at. If this is where your primary interest lies, then you have to know that in order to be successful, you'll really should work at carving out a niche for yourself. Try to keep some common, underlying design to your work. Stay consistent to ensure that your portfolio has a similar "look and feel." If simple elegance is what you do best, don't stray far from that in your "for profit" beading projects. However, if your liking runs to zany, over the top designs, stick with that. Bear in mind that you'll need to be able to create your designs in quantity, thus keep your designs basic but unique. A big order, but by researching the market, you should be able to get a niche.

Bracelets: A smaller market than necklaces, however, these projects could still be challenging to break into. A very common niche in the bracelet market is the "mother's bracelet". A populated market now, but if you have an innovative approach, that specific type of beading projects can be worthwhile indeed!

Earrings: Yet another fantastic type of beading projects, and this one lends itself nicely to profitability. Once you've improved upon your designs, you may actually produce a number of pairs of earrings a day, and some capacity for bulk production is important to profitability. Again, however, earrings are a populated market, thus your beading projects will have to have some unique aspect to them in order for you to gain profits.
