Getting the Right Gas Mileage Can Be Done With A New PCM for Grand Caravan

When we talk about operation of fuel system, the most important part is the car's PCM. You might ask why? Well, I'll tell why. For example, you own a Dodge Caravan, its ECM will tell the engine how much of fuel is needed just basing on the volume of air being used, throttle position and what gear transmission is in and basically just some other factors. In short, your Dodge Caravan ECU is the brain and holds the software that makes your van run right

A PCM (Powertrain Control Module), also known as Engine Control Unit (ECU) or in simple words, a car computer, is an important part because cars, e.g. the Dodge Caravan, do not work without these devices. These devices are made to be durable but there are instances that they just stop working. Troubleshooting techniques generally solves these problems because usually, only a damaged sensor that relays information to the computer is the problem.

You basically do not need to immediately replace the device because there are ways to solve these problems. Commonly, a broken sensor that sends information to the computer is just root cause of the problem.

Without these sensors, your car computer will not function because important information's are not delivered. To illustrate, we take sensors in your throttle. When these sensors do not deliver the information, the car computer in your Dodge Caravan will be clueless on how much fuel is to be released in the engine to be able to stabilize the proper speed. Thus, your car will most likely function or start at all.

Another vital part of a car that works with the car's computer is the air flow sensor. The sensor works by calculating the volume of air that infuses in the engine and then transmits this information to the computer. The computer now then determines how much fuel is needed to mix with the air in the engine. If the sensors won't work, the car would not run smoothly as expected because the computer was not able to send the correct amount of fuel in the engine.

The computer in turn, will send how much fuel should be added to the calculated amount of air in the engine. If the sensor won't work, this creates a problem to your car because the computer was not able to determine the exact fuel to be added into the engine.

Problems like these leads to more expenses because of gas wastage. These problems occur usually because of a problem in the car's engine computer but consumers should not always jump into conclusion that it is always the cause of the problems. Checking the entire car parts before ordering a new Dodge Grand Caravan PCM would most likely be the best course of action to take.

One of the priority steps you should employ is to check the fuse box. Often times, a diagram of the fuse is found on your Grand Caravan manual or on the cover of the fuse box.

Another important thing to be checked is the car computer's software. A ECM can be compared to a computer's software. Taking your ECU to the dealer is an option when experiencing these problems. Your dealer will plug your car's PCM to a computer to detect any anomalies in the software and this just might be the solution that you were looking for.
