How to Use Social Media for Your Business; a Beginner's Guide to Facebook Ads

Facebook now has a billion members worldwide. You may think that - dues to its impressive numbers - investing in Facebook ads is a guaranteed way to increase profitability for you company. But it's not as simple as it may seem. Advertising on Facebook means that your message will have to fight against the thousands of other messages that people see every day from friends, family and other companies. That isn't to say that Facebook ads can't be effective. In fact, they can be the best marketing decision you're a company makes; you just have to know the right steps to take.

The first thing you'll have to do is create a page for your business. Make sure you have a great, eye-catching cover photo. This is going to be the first thing people see when they click on your Facebook ads, so try to make a great first impression. You should also put focus into your information section. This is your chance to tell people what your business is about, beyond just what you're selling or offering. Be creative and personal, people love companies with a personality.

Once your page is set up, you need to concentrate on targeting your audience. The best thing about advertising on Facebook is that you can set it up so that only the people that are interested in your company will see your ads, and you won't waste ad space on the people who aren't. If you want to focus on 28-35 year old single females in New York City, then that is the only demographic that will see your ads.

Now, it's time to engage your audience. Just getting people to click the like button on your page is not enough. You want to create posts that will keep people coming back to your company's page, otherwise all the money you put into Facebook ads will mean nothing. Creating entertaining posts is vital, and these posts don't always have to be directly related to your product.

Of course, you should remember not to over-do it with the amount of content you post to Facebook. Always keep in mind that there are a lot of messages being thrown around Facebook on a daily basis, and it's easy to get drowned out by all that noise, especially when you start flooding people's newsfeed with constant posts. One to two quality posts a day is enough. Keep them entertaining, creative and have fun with it!
