Some Of The Features Of LED Emergency Light Bars

Light emitting diodes as components have become very popular. The main advantage they have is their ability to use low currents while still being able to last for long periods while being operated. These features they possess make them quite economical in spite of their costly nature. LEDs currently are a significant force to reckon with in the lighting market. They additionally enjoy a substantial and expanding market share. They can be found in different formats which include tubes, bulbs, recessed lighting, down lights plus LED emergency light bars.

Apart from long life and low power consumption, LEDs have other numerous benefits such as compact size, reliable performance in constant vibration and the small size. Very little residual heat is emitted since their operation only requires roughly ten percentage watts of what would be needed by traditional lighting to produce equal amounts of lumen. They have been intentionally designed to produce low watts because damage would occur if they are exposed to high and prolonged heat.

As suggested by their name, the bars are meant to be used in extraordinary circumstances or in extreme conditions. Their designs allow them to deliver astonishing performance. Aside from supplying general lighting, a lighting bar is made to highlight and alert people about hazardous zones. Their impressive performance makes them desirable for public agencies like EMS units, fire and the police.

The bar characteristically consists of many heads. Every single head contains a couple of LEDs. The units have heights of between 100-150 millimeters, a length of between 1100-1700mm and a width of around 300-500mm. The construction is sturdy, coated with powder and has a metallic chassis.

The units integrate polycarbonate lens with a vertical dispersion thus giving them an aerodynamic profile. They will only need low currents and have ratings of about 100,000 hours. A few of them come with feet which are magnetic which enable them to be highly stable on metallic surfaces.

Outdoor emergencies in most instances would require electrical energy produced by portable generators. A common characteristic of these generators is their constant production of variable voltage. This can cause the LEDs to produce abnormally high levels of heat. When such excessive heats are experienced, the unit is likely to develop problems. The excess heat also ruins the LEDs consequently shortening their lifespan. Early replacements will therefore always be required and this is bound to occur frequently.

Emergency scenes and recreational yachts are some of the examples where generators will be relied on for production of power. Surges in voltage can also cause LEDs to produce more heat than is necessary. In a scenario where no surges are experienced, heat produced will be very minimal. When the surge is prolonged, heat escalation is bound to cause numerous problems. Such environments often experience a fluctuation in voltage.

Instead of using linear resistors, a few LED emergency light bars make use of a device commonly referred to as Buck Power Converter. They cost more than the linear resistors but a lot of individuals feel that the costing is justified. The justification arises since the gadget becomes more efficient in controlling surges in voltage.
